How to Copy Your Favourite Garment with Mr O'Pattern Studio

Do you have a favourite garment you wish you could clone? That one item which fits perfectly but you just cannot find it again? Now you can as you join pattern cutter, Tim O’ Sullivan on this introductory workshop where you will discover techniques used in the fashion industry to copy and create sewing patterns from an existing garment without the need to deconstruct it.

Bring along a favourite garment you would like to learn to recreate however do choose something relatively simple to help you get started. The session will begin with an introduction and demonstration of the methods of tracing and drafting as well as essential pattern cutting techniques for creating a professional sewing pattern complete with seam allowances, grain lines, notches and cutting instructions. You will then have an opportunity to explore and develop these techniques on your own garment with expert tutorial guidance.

This workshop is open everyone with an interest in making their own clothes however a basic knowledge of dressmaking and sewing patterns would be beneficial.

Tim O’Sullivan is a Creative Pattern Cutter and creator of @mr_o_pattern_studio whose past work has featured in British and Italian Vogue, on the Oscars Red Carpet and the catwalks of London,Milan and New York. He is now a Senior Lecturer in Fashion at Ravensbourne University and is passionate about making pattern cutting accessible for all.

He teaches by the mantra: Fast, Easy, Accurate!
