Blue & Orange Gingham Button-Through Dress with Rik-Rak Detail
A standout piece from our current edit – this beautifully constructed dress is a rare home-sewn gem, likely dating from the 1930s or 40s. While the silhouette may evoke 80s revival styling, the details and craftsmanship speak to a much earlier origin. Made from soft linen in a cornflower blue, white, green, and orange gingham check, this dress balances structure with charm.
The front features a shift-style bodice with a separate skirt panel, shaped bust seams, and wide shoulder straps – all trimmed in green rik-rak braid. Matching detailing adorns the two front patch pockets. At the back, a scoop neckline and three buttons at the upper section create a refined finish, with the lower skirt left open along the selvedge. Poppers have been added discreetly to allow the dress to be worn without a slip. Comes with a matching fabric belt.
