Blue & Orange Gingham Button Through Dress
This dress is our favourite pick of the edit. The fit, fabric and detailing is sublime and although the styling could be mistaken for 80s it is most certainly a much older piece, likely 1930s/40s.
A simple shift to the front with a separate skirt panel in a soft cornflower blue, green and white plaid linen. There is interesting shaping to the bust area; a pointed panel which leads into the armhole is finished with rik-rak, this carries on into the shoulder straps which are wide enough to cover a bra, again finished with braid. Pleating below the shoulder straps allows a loose fit to the bust. Shaped patch pockets to the front are also finished with green rik-rak.
The back of the dress has a simple scoop neck and three buttons to the upper back. The selvedge has been used as the centre back and to the lower part of the skirt it remains open, we have added poppers so that the dress can be worn without a slip.
It is a home sewn garment and has a belt to match.
