The mandarin collar can be worn standing or open as shown. The bib front edges have been bound, as has the centre front. The puff sleeves give the dress a 40s styling but the fuller skirt shows it to be much later, 1980s.
The clever mix of polka dots and diagonal striped plaid have been cleverly used in the sleeves, bib front and apron skirt which is polka dot underneath and plaid for the external layer. The cuffs and waist are elasticated and the front is four unusual yellow buttons.
